Tax Relief Policy
The purpose of the Tax Relief policy is to establish a consistent procedure for administration to utilize to prepare material for Council in instances where applications for property tax relief have been made.
Tax Relief Application Process
The property owner requesting the tax relief must do the following:
- Read the policy and verify that they meet the criteria listed
- Gather proper documentation that supports the criteria listed in policy
- Write a letter to the City advising what they are requesting and why
- Deliver letter and documentation to the Tax Department by any of the methods listed below
Once the Tax Department has received the package, Administration will review the documents and present a report to Council for the request. Council will make a decision on the tax relief. Administration will notify the applicant of the outcome.

Downtown Abatement Program
The Downtown Abetment Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at stimulating new construction and renovation projects within the vibrant heart of our city's business district. Designed to invigorate urban landscapes and drive economic vitality, this program offers incentives and support mechanisms to developers and entrepreneurs committed to revitalizing downtown spaces.

• Within the boundaries of the PAD BID established in Schedule "A" in Bylaw No. 4 of 2005, Downtown Business Improvement District Bylaw • All taxes and charges related to the property must be in good standing with the City of Prince Albert. • Improvement must comply with National Building code of Canada, the Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act, the City of Prince Albert Zoning Bylaw No. 1 of 2019. • One application per property within the 60 month period of the program • All project's eligibility will be determined by City Council |

• New construction on vacant lands or redevelopment plans involving the demolition and rebuilding of a commercial property in the PADBID boundaries. • Redevelopment or alteration of an existing building within the downtown area that results in an increase in assessed value, • Only the value of the new building or alteration will count towards the Abatement. None of the costs or taxes incurred prior to the new commercial building construction or alteration will be eligible for this program.
