Prince Albert is currently in the middle of a two-day snowfall warning event. The City is providing an update on snow operations and service impacts related to the ongoing weather.

Heavy snowfall over the past 24 hours has significantly affected travel inside and outside city limits. Crews are nearly finished clearing priority emergency routes and continue to make steady progress to clear bus routes. The duration and volume of snowfall have resulted in delays to transit, garbage, and recycling services.

As of this afternoon, snow-clearing operations are moving into school zones as crews continue to make strong progress following the recent snowfall that brought approximately 35 cm (14 inches) of snow.

The City of Prince Albert would like to advise that the Snow Route Parking Ban declared at 4 pm on Thursday, Feb 19, has been lifted. Following the storm earlier this week that brought approximately 35 cm (14 inches) of snow, crews will shift their focus to Transit Routes on Saturday, with a planned downtown snow lift scheduled for Sunday.

The City of Prince Albert advises that the Snow Route Parking Ban is being extended and effective from 4 PM on Thursday, Feb 19, to 4 PM on Saturday, Feb 21. Residents and visitors are asked to avoid parking on designated snow routes to ensure safe, efficient snow clearing.

The City of Prince Albert advises residents that snow removal operations remain ongoing, with crews continuing to clear priority emergency routes and making steady progress. Due to the duration and amount of precipitation during the recent snow event, crews have needed to return to emergency routes to maintain safe access.

Due to expected snowfall overnight, combined with heavy winds and blowing snow, the City of Prince Albert advises that a Snow Route Parking Ban has been declared.

The ban is effective from 9:00 AM on Wednesday, Feb 18. Residents and visitors are asked to avoid parking on designated snow routes to allow for safe and efficient snow clearing.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Prince Albert beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday night. Total snowfall of 25–35 cm is expected during this period. Heavy snowfall and reduced visibility may create hazardous driving conditions.

The City of Prince Albert’s Snow Operations crews will begin grading residential streets starting Monday, January 26, as part of ongoing winter maintenance efforts.

The City of Prince Albert has received numerous snow-related service requests over the past week as warm weather continued across the region. As expected, these conditions softened snow on roads, especially at neighbourhood entrances and busy spots, where traffic volume and the use of salt led to ruts.
