New Collaborative Groups Boost Community Involvement

The City of Prince Albert is inviting residents to play a greater role in shaping the future of their community through a new initiative called Collaborative Groups.

Approved by City Council on May 11, 2026, the Collaborative Groups Policy establishes a new community engagement opportunity that brings together residents, community organizations, businesses, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to discuss municipal issues and share perspectives on topics that are important to the City of Prince Albert.

"We are looking for individuals who are interested in sharing their ideas, expertise, and lived experiences to help strengthen Prince Albert," said Mayor Bill Powalinsky.

Collaborative Groups are designed to provide Administration with valuable community input, ideas, and feedback that may inform policies, programs, projects, and recommendations to City Council. The groups encourage meaningful dialogue, promote collaboration, and help ensure a variety of voices and experiences are considered in municipal decision-making.

“The purpose of the new initiative is to deliver service excellence through creative problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration with residents and partners,” said Savannah Price, City Clerk. “Collaborative Groups create a new avenue for community members to share their perspectives and help inform the work of the City. By bringing together diverse voices and experiences, we can build stronger relationships and make more informed decisions that benefit Prince Albert.”

Collaborative Groups are advisory in nature and do not have decision-making authority. Participation is voluntary, and groups may be established for a specific project, issue, or area of interest identified by the City.

By participating in a Collaborative Group, residents can:

  • Share ideas and experiences on municipal issues that matter to them.
  • Help shape future City initiatives, projects, and services.
  • Provide valuable community perspectives to Administration.
  • Connect with other residents, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to building a stronger and more inclusive Prince Albert community.

The City welcomes applications from residents and individuals with a connection to Prince Albert who are interested in contributing their knowledge, experience, and perspectives. No prior municipal experience is required. Participation from individuals of diverse backgrounds, ages, cultures, abilities, neighbourhoods, and lived experiences is welcomed to help ensure that Collaborative Groups reflect the community they serve.

Applications are now open, and for more information about Collaborative Groups, and how to apply, visit www.citypa.ca/collaborative-groups
