City Receives $100,000 Grant for Marquis Road Traffic Safety Improvements

The City of Prince Albert has been awarded $100,000 through the SGI Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant program to improve traffic flow and safety for pedestrians and motorists at the entrance to the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre on Marquis Road near A&W.

The project includes the construction of a median that will address ongoing safety concerns, including reports of westbound vehicles entering oncoming traffic, improper left turns at the right-in/right-out entrance, and westbound left turns into the intersection. The median is to act as a pedestrian refuge across Marquis Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin September 2nd and is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

The Rotary Trail will be extended to provide the first accessible pedestrian crossing to the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre. While pedestrian signals are available at Marquis Road and 6th Avenue, there is currently no sidewalk or accessible ramps at that crossing. 

During construction, full access will remain in place for each business, including A&W and the hotel.
