Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry
Help Keep Prince Albert Safe
The Prince Albert Police Service and the City of Prince Albert's Community Safety and Well-Being Division are encouraging residents to join the Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry (SNCR)—a voluntary, Canada-wide program that helps police investigate crimes more quickly and effectively.
If you have an outward-facing security camera or video doorbell, you can register its location with the Prince Albert Police Service. Registration lets police know that a camera may have captured footage that could assist an investigation if an incident occurs nearby.
How the Registry Works
The Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry does not provide police with access to your camera or live video feed.
By registering, you are simply letting the Prince Albert Police Service know that:
- You have an outward-facing security camera or doorbell camera.
- You may be willing to share recorded footage if an incident occurs in your area.
If police believe your camera may have captured relevant footage, they may contact you and ask if you are willing to provide a copy of the recording.
Participation is completely voluntary.
Your Privacy
Your privacy is important.
- Police cannot view your camera or access your recordings through the registry.
- You decide whether or not to share footage if requested.
- You can withdraw from the registry at any time.
- Registering your camera does not obligate you to provide footage.
