Effective February 28, 2022, the requirement for members of the public to provide proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test prior to access to City facilities within the last 72 hours will be expanded to include members of the public 5 years and older.
Health Canada has now approved the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine for use in five to 11 year olds and vaccines for this age group are now available in Saskatchewan. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, children under 12 years now account for the highest number of new COVID-19 infections.
“Now that the vaccines have been proven safe and effective for this age group, this is a logical extension of our policy for accessing facilities,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “The implementation date gives the public three months to consider the options available and get fully vaccinated.”
This requirement applies to City owned facilities excluding the Airport, Police Service Headquarters and Substation and City Hall Foyer.
