Province and City committed to enhancing road safety in Prince Albert.
Mayor Greg Dionne confirmed that the City of Prince Albert has received $43,364.70 in funding through the Traffic Safety Fund grant.
SGI and Crown Investments Corporation Minister and Prince Albert MLA Joe Hargrave confirmed he was very pleased to announce Prince Albert’s share of the Province-wide safety fund. He stated, “the Province is committed to enhancing road safety, which includes pedestrian safety for children. We all play an important role in keeping Saskatchewan safe. Increasing safety measures in school zones will better protect our children, which is the goal of this program.”
“The safety of our children is a priority for City Council and the community as a whole. I am pleased to announce the funding we have received will go towards raised crosswalks and variable speed signs in various school zones across the City,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “The Traffic Safety Fund grant is designed to improve safety for the children of our community. I sincerely appreciate that the Committee has allocated this important funding to Prince Albert.”
In addition, Minister Joe Hargrave and Mayor Greg Dionne released a joint message for the public:
“Although school is out for the summer, many children still regularly play in the area. When you are driving through school zones please remember to always stay focused, exercise caution, slow down and watch for children.”
