Prince Albert, Sk. – The City of Prince Albert is pleased to announce the appointment of Curtis Olsen to the position of Sport & Recreation Manager in the Community Services Department. The Sport & Recreation Manager reports directly to the Director of Community Services, Jody Boulet and replaces the Recreation Manager position, previously held by Derek Blais. Blais left the City in 2018 to become the Director of Community Services for the City of Moose Jaw.
“This is a great opportunity for Curtis and reflects the solid work he has done in our department as Recreation Coordinator for the past 10 years”, commented Boulet. “Curtis has a good working relationship with many people in the sports and recreation community in Prince Albert. He has led our aquatics staff, community clubs, Community Grant Program, playground program, programming at the Margo Fournier Centre and been involved with many organizations and major events in the city. He is very involved on a personal level in sports in Prince Albert which is another asset for this position.”
“I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to move into the Sport & Recreation Manager role”, said Olsen. “I really enjoy working for the City of Prince Albert and look forward to this new challenge. The best part is still working with the people I do each day and being able to continue to build on those relationships. With new rinks and aquatic centre on the horizon, it is an exciting time for our department and I look forward to being a part of it.”
As Sport & Recreation Manager, Olsen will continue to work closely with Community Clubs and other groups, as well as oversee the management of the Recreation Facilities in the City.
Olsen started with the City in 2010 as a Recreation Coordinator. He takes over as the Sport & Recreation Manager effective immediately.
