The Prince Albert Transit service will be reduced starting Wednesday April 29, 2020. Buses will start their routes one hour later at 7:45a.m. and the Rush Hour route will be shut down temporarily. This has been done in response to the substantial reduction in Transit ridership that has been experienced as business and schools closed in response to measures put in place to protect the community against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“The rush hour bus is there to handle overflow that occurs during peak hours,” said Keri Sapsford, Transportation Manager for the City of Prince Albert. “With universities, schools and businesses closed the need is no longer there to keep this bus in service.”
Those riding the bus are reminded to stay home when feeling sick, maintain 2m of physical distance, and use Transit for essential travel only. Drivers have been given the authority to refuse rides if buses are too full to maintain physical distance between passengers.
The City will continue to monitor ridership on Transit vehicles and will respond if increases warrant the re-introduction of services.
