Prince Albert, Sk. – For the 41st time, the City of Prince Albert will present the Terry Fox Award in 2022. In each of the previous years, the City has recognized a young citizen who is a role model, exhibits perseverance and dedication, and who is emblematic of the ideals and traits of the late Terry Fox. The call is now open for the 41st City of Prince Albert Terry Fox Award, which serves to perpetuate the memory of Terry’s heroic achievement, while acknowledging a local recipient with similar ideals.
The award is for city residents under the age of 21, recognizing good citizenship including exceptional service to school, social, athletic, civic or church institutions. Consideration will be given to those who have shown perseverance and determination, whether of a public or personal nature.
The 40th recipient, presented in 2021, was Reid Lehner. Reid has autism, but operates his own business in the city, Reid’s Basket ‘N Things, creating gift baskets and enriching the lives of others. Through his business Reid also donates to many city charities.
The 2013 Terry Fox Award recipient, Brittany Hudak, recently won 2 bronze medals in Nordic Skiing for Canada at the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
Nomination forms are available on the city’s website and at the Community Services Department Office 3rd Floor at City Hall.
