Warmer Temperatures May Impact Road Conditions

The City of Prince Albert is reminding residents that with warmer weather expected this weekend and into early next week, road conditions may worsen due to the ongoing thaw-freeze cycle.

Over the next week, snow-clearing crews will focus on bus and collector routes and will actively target reported locations with ruts or sightline concerns.

“When temperatures fluctuate above and below freezing, melting snow refreezes and creates ruts and icy patches that can develop rapidly,” said Jeff Da Silva, Director of Public Works. “Intersections are particularly affected, and we’re asking drivers to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and be mindful of changing road conditions.”

The Most Effective Way to Report Snow-Related Concerns

Residents are strongly encouraged to report ruts, sightline issues, and other snow-related street issues through the City’s online service request portal. Submitting a report creates a direct service request for snow operations and is the most effective way to ensure concerns are addressed.

The City appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as crews continue working through winter conditions. Motorists are reminded to slow down, allow extra travel time, and drive according to road conditions.
