“The Meeting Place” Overnight Warm-Up Centre opens Dec 15

The Salvation Army and The City of Prince Albert are pleased to announce the return of The Meeting Place, an overnight warm-up centre dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for individuals during the cold winter months. Now in its second year, the centre will operate seven nights a week from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., starting December 15, 2025, and continuing until April 2026.

The initiative, which reflects our community’s commitment to safety and compassion during Saskatchewan’s hard winter season, is made possible through a $260,000 grant from the Government of Saskatchewan.

“Our government is pleased to be supporting this important community-led initiative that provides a warm, safe place for those in immediate need of shelter in Prince Albert,” said Minister of Social Services Terry Jenson. “Through the Provincial Approach to Homelessness, we are working together with municipal partners to focus on safe and secure support services such as those provided by The Meeting Place.”

Located at 900 Central Avenue, The Meeting Place offers warmth, shelter, and support for those who need it most.

“We know that extreme cold can be life-threatening, and this centre ensures that everyone has access to a safe space overnight,” said Major Ed Dean, with the Salvation in Prince Albert. “The Meeting Place is more than a warm building - it’s a symbol of care and community.”

The centre is staffed by trained personnel who provide security, assistance, and connect guests with additional resources when needed.
