2023 Budget Deliberations Start November 16

Prince Albert’s Budget Committee will meet starting November 16, 2022 to consider the proposed 2023 capital and operating budgets as presented by City Administration. These budgets cover a substantial portion of the City’s operations including core functional areas such as recreation, police, parks, fleet, fire, streets and roads, transit, traffic, playgrounds, arts and community clubs.

This year, the budget package has once again been prepared “line-by-line” following a request by City Council. This method provides members of the Committee the opportunity to review in greater detail what each operation includes. “Last year we found it beneficial for members of Council see this level of detail in each department,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “It encourages good discussion with Administration and openness with the public about what accounts for the spending in each department.”

The Budget Committee will meet to consider the proposed budget and review each operational area to make final determinations on spending priorities for the year and make recommendations to City Council for final approval. Recommendations are anticipated to be considered at the December 12, 2022 City Council meeting.

General Fund Budget Deliberations:       

There will be no presentations from the public during these meetings.

Wednesday, November 16, 2022 – 8:00am – approximately 5:00pm
Thursday, November 17, 2022– 8:00am to approximately 5:00pm
Friday, November 18, 2022 – 1:00pm to approximately 9:00pm
Saturday, November 19, 2022 – 8:00am to approximately 5:00pm

All meetings listed above will be held in the Council Chamber, at City Hall, at the times specified. Interested Citizens are encouraged to attend the Wednesday, November 16 and Thursday, November 17, 2022 Budget Committee meetings as deliberations may be completed on those days.

Sanitation, Utility, Airport and Land Fund Budget Deliberations

There will be no presentation from the public during these meetings. The proposed Sanitation, Utility, Airport and Land fund budgets will be available on November 22, 2022.

Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4:00pm approximately 8:00pm
Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4:00pm to approximately 8:00pm
