Every business operating in the City of Prince Albert must have a City business licence. See the Business Licence Bylaw for more information.
Types of business licences
Each application type is based on the location and/or the type of business:
Commercial Business Licence |
The Commercial Business Licence Application is for businesses in commercial or industrial areas of the city. Examples: a retail store, a professional office, a production facility, etc. |
Home-Based Business Licence |
The Home-Based Business Licence Application is for running a business out of your home in the city. |
Cannabis Business Licence |

Transient Trader Business Licence |
The Transient Trader Business Licence Application is for:
Categories include: Blanket transient tradersShopping malls, hotels or event centres that want to cover transient trader businesses operating at their location. Circus and/or carnival or rodeo promotersTravelling circus, carnival, rodeo or other similar traveling show or exhibition, which may need City Council approval. Contractors and direct sales contractorsThose who:
Farmer's marketThis category is for a group of vendors selling goods together as a part of the farmer's market. Trade showsThis category is for events where goods are for sale on a short-term such as hobby shows, home improvement shows, craft shows, etc. The event may include a showcase of products or services. Other transient tradersThis category is for all businesses that do not fit under a home-based or commercial licence and do not fit the transient trader categories. Examples are consultants, realtors, caterers, retail, etc. |
Mobile Food Vendor Business Licence |
The Mobile Food Vendor Business Licence Application is for selling confectionery, food and/or beverage items from a Mobile Food Bicycle, Cart, Trailer or Truck to the public. For more information see our Mobile Food Vendor Policy. |
Inter-Municipal Business Licence (IMBL) Short Form |
The Inter-Municipal Business Licence (IMBL) Short Form Application allows home-based, commercial, and some transient trader businesses to operate in the Town of Shellbrook, the Town of Rosthern and the Town of Duck Lake, as well as Prince Albert. You can also select the IMBL on the home-based, commercial and transient trader applications. All home-based or commercial businesses with a City licence can apply for an IMBL. Paying for a business licence
We accept cash, cheque, debit or online payments. Please make any cheques payable to the City of Prince Albert.
If you are a commercial or home-based businesses you can pay to renew your business licence online with credit card or debit.
