The Broadway North Youth 2026 Fall Program
– The Lion King JR – has filled!
If you are in the program, we will be in touch with confirmation and a survey to complete regarding cast requests, etc. Please do not reach out with specific requests, they will be addressed in the survey.
We are excited to announce this year’s Broadway North Youth Company musical The Lion King JR. with Director Kayleigh Skomorowski! There will be two casts again this year.
The Lion King JR. is a vibrant, youth-friendly adaptation of Disney’s beloved story. Follow Simba’s journey from a young cub to rightful king as he learns about responsibility, friendship, and courage. Featuring iconic songs and engaging choreography, this production brings the African savanna to life through music, movement, and powerful storytelling—perfect for performers and audiences of all ages.

2026 Lion King JR. Auditions 2026 Rehearsal And Show Schedule
If my child is interested in a principal role, should they audition?
Yes — absolutely! If a cast member is interested in any role, we strongly encourage them to audition.
The audition process is an important part of the theatre educational experience. Preparing and memorizing material helps students build confidence, responsibility, and performance skills. It also helps the creative team determine whether a cast member is ready for the responsibility and rehearsal expectations that come with larger speaking and singing roles.
Cast members are expected to prepare:
- TWO monologues
- ONE monologue memorized
- Their vocal selection
Please remember that students are not auditioning for a specific character.
For example, no one is strictly “auditioning for Simba.” Instead, students are auditioning for the size and type of role they may be ready for. The audition panel will determine the best character fit based on the range, versatility, preparedness, and performance qualities demonstrated during auditions.
There are also many featured roles in the show that do not have specific monologue selections provided (for example: Pumbaa, Shenzi, Banzai, Ed, etc.). Choosing a monologue or song associated with a certain character does not mean a student will only be considered for that role — or necessarily for that role at all.
We are looking for:
- Preparation
- Memorization
- Performance range
- Character variety
- Confidence and commitment
What is the dance call?
The dance call will take place at 9:00 AM on our first rehearsal day for Intermediate and Senior cast members who indicate on their casting form that they would like the opportunity to be considered for a featured dancer role.
The dance call is optional and intended specifically for students hoping to showcase stronger dance skills for featured dance opportunities within the production.
What time should cast members arrive on the first rehearsal day?
ALL cast members are expected to arrive at 9:00 AM, regardless of whether or not they are participating in the dance call.
Junior cast members will begin their regularly scheduled rehearsal activities immediately at 9:00 AM while the dance call is taking place.
