Playground Program 

Dates: July 2 - August 15

  • It’s free! This is a drop-in program-children can come and go as they want.
  • It’s for children aged 6-12.
  • Two trained supervisors per playground - see details below.

  • Activities includes: Play, art, recreation, science, literacy drama and culture.
  • Thursday Special Events are Registered programs, not drop in.

Play leaders are required to obtain the following training:

Play Leaders attend an orientation to the Prince Albert Playground Program that includes visits with the Social Services department, Parkland Ambulance, and resources from Prince Albert Parkland Health region about concussions, lice, and ticks.

KidzFest 

The 2025 date will be Thursday, July 17th from 1 – 5 pm

Join us for the 30th Annual KidzFest for an afternoon of family fun!

Activities include carnival games, balloon animals, crafts, face painting, stage entertainment (including circus and hoop shows) bouncy castles, and more! All activities are free to participate in. Food—including hotdogs, popcorn, veggies and drinks — are  available at a reduced price.

Date: Thursday, July 17th

Time: 1-5 pm

Location: Kinsmen Park

There's more!

Special events are registered programs that are typically held on Thursday afternoons and bussing may be is required. To leave the playground as a group, permission slips are mandatory and handed out on Monday for events on Thursday that same week. Please note participant numbers are based off of staff availability and we adopt a child to adult ratio of 7 to 1.

Special Events:

  • July 10th: A Trip Through Time @ Miller Hill from 1-4pm
  • July 17th: KidzFest @ Kinsmen park from 1-5pm (Open to all families, not a supervised event)
  • July 24th: Road to Glory @ Alfred Jenkins Field House from 1-4pm
  • July 31st: Welcome to the Jungle @ Little Red River Park from 1-4pm
  • August 14th: Sea Splashing Mania @ the Kinsmen Water Perk from 12:30-4pm

***For July 24th, 31st and August 14thpermission slips will be required and are available on Mondays at each playground. Bussing is provided free of charge. Pick-up and drop-off times vary by location and are provided on the permission slips.

Once again this summer, the city will welcome children with disabilities to let them have exclusive use of the many inclusive elements at Alfred’s Playground at the Field House.

The JumpStart playground is the only one of its kind in the province and has many unique features designed specifically for children with disabilities. While the inclusive elements of the playground will be reserved during this time, the other two wings of the playground will remain open to the general public.

Our Inclusive day’s this year will be at Alfred Jenkins Field House playground.

Inclusive dates will resume in 2025. New dates are July 8, 22 and August 12th  from 9 am - 10:30 am
