Aquatics Centre – Fact Check

The Aquatics area is 47,000 sq. ft. The expanded indoor capacity also means Prince Albert can host local, regional and provincial swim competitions, and the added spectator seating will give more room for guests to watch.

Swimming Canada requires a second pool for warm-up and cool-down to host national or international events. Building this extra pool would have added tens of millions in cost. The city chose not to include it, but the new pool still meets all the needs for provincial and regional competitions and provides a top-quality facility for our community.

An official pool survey has been completed in consultation with Swim Sask and has confirmed that it is 25 meters long and exceeds the minimum required depth.

Comfortable for Everyone

Dedicated pools mean customized water temperatures—cooler for lane swimming and warmer for leisure and family use. Added spectator seating ensures more guests can cheer on swimmers at events.

Convenient Amenities

The aquatics area includes family, men’s, and women’s change rooms. Lockers ($1) are available for secure storage, and wall-mounted hair dryers provide added convenience for swimmers and guests. Showers to rinse off are on the aquatic side.
