Prince Albert, SK—On the first school day, September 3rd, 2024, all City transit will be free for everyone. This promotion will allow students of all ages to try City Transit for free to start the school year. Monthly bus passes are available for high school students at Carlton, St. Mary’s, Wesmor, and Prince Albert Collegiate Institute. The New Semester Bus Passes are available for all Post-Secondary students to purchase at Saskatchewan Polytechnic or City Hall.
Bus Route Changes
- East Flat #2 Route will begin operating on August 26, weekdays from 7-10 am and 2:30-5:30 pm, to provide additional capacity during peak hours.
- The Little Red Transit Route operates only on Saturdays from 9:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. to promote the City’s largest park!
“The free transit day will allow students to get to school and purchase their bus passes,” says Evan Hastings, Transportation Manager for the City of Prince Albert. “It also allows students to try and familiarize themselves with the bus routes. We encourage students and parents to subscribe to Transit News, where schedule changes and other updates are posted.”
School Zone Safety
- Back-to-school is a reminder to drive slowly (30 km/h).
- Avoid U-turns in school zones.
- Please watch for pedestrians and allow them to cross the street safely. You MUST stop at marked crosswalks when pedestrians are waiting to cross.
- Do not stop in marked ‘no parking’ zones. When dropping your children off for school, please avoid no-parking and no-stopping zones, which are in place to maintain safe sightlines for pedestrians and motorists.
