The highly anticipated aquatic area at the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre is scheduled to open to the public in mid-August. This includes the competition pool, combined leisure, splash and wave pool, lazy river, whirlpool, and two waterslides—features the community has been eagerly awaiting.
The City and its contractor are currently finalizing safety protocols, conducting system checks, and completing the final adjustments to ensure a safe and high-quality experience. These steps are critical as we prepare to welcome residents and visitors to the full aquatic attractions.
Due to the upcoming opening of the Kinsmen Water Park in the first week of June and the ongoing operation of the Frank J. Dunn Pool until the end of the school year, the City is unable to safely staff all three aquatic facilities simultaneously. As a result, the public opening of the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre’s aquatic area will follow the closure of the Kinsmen Water Park in August.
In the meantime, the twin arenas at the Leisure Centre have been open for public bookings since March 31, 2025, and the City is thrilled with the strong community response and participation.
“We truly appreciate the community’s patience and support as we work toward the full launch of this remarkable facility,” said Jody Boulet, Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture. “We can’t wait to officially welcome everyone to enjoy the aquatic spaces later this summer.”
