Drinking Water Advisories
If you get a Drinking Water Advisory (DWA) notice delivered to your home, this means that you should boil your water to be sure it is safe to drink. Soil and other contaminants can enter your water for different reasons. The most common is when there is a water main break or when the City's water works crews are doing repairs, maintenance and replacement of the City's underground water pipes.
The risk that you will get sick is very low, but to be safe regulations require that a Drinking Water Advisory notice be delivered to all affected residents, businesses and public buildings.
A Drinking Water Advisory lets you know that work is being done on your water supply system. It includes instructions on boiling your water for drinking and any other activities where water may be swallowed. Once the work is done the City will send water samples to the lab for testing. When the test samples show the water is safe, City staff will hand deliver a Drinking Water Advisory Lifted Notice your home to let you know the water is safe to drink and you can stop boiling your water.

Any time there is a drinking water advisory delivered by the City, it is updated on the list below. Status updates are reported as follows:
- DWA Notice Delivered
- Repair in Progress
- Water Quality Samples Sent for testing (2 lab samples)
- DWA Lifted Notice Delivered; or
- Work Cancelled
Updates will be done once daily at 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). Reports will only change each day if there has been a change in status. You can find the steps in detail on this PDF:
If you live in an area noted on the list, but did not get a hand-delivered Drinking Water Advisory Notice, your property is NOT affected. You should boil your water only if you got a notice.
