Career as a firefighter
As a firefighter, you'll find the source of the fire, use proper suppression techniques,and search and rescue victims.
You will learn:
- Structural Firefighting
- Confined Space Rescue
- Medical Assistance
- Hazardous Material Response (HazMat)
- Motor Vehicle Collisions
- Ice Rescue
- Trench Rescue
- Water Rescue
- Wildland / Interface Operations
- Rope Rescue
- Structural Collapse Rescue
Valid Class 3A License with G endorsement (or better)
Requirements when you apply
You need to meet the following requirements when you apply and include all of yourdocumentation with your resume.
- Make sure to submit a photocopy of your:
- Grade 12 or equivalent Secondary Education Certificate
- Valid Class 3A Driver's Licence with G Endoresment (or better)
- SCOP licensed Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) (or better)
- Valid CPR Certificate (Level C)
- NFPA 1001 - Level II (IFSAC or ProBoard certified)
You must also send us a completed Medical Clearance Form and a Confirmed Eye Examination Form of uncorrected 20/40 vision (corrective surgery is acceptable following a one-year waiting period following surgery before you apply).
