Prince Albert has several services available for domestic and wild animals.

The City's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department provides skunk trapping and removal services for residential properties through the Skunk Removal Program. This service is offered in April, and again from August 1st to October 31st of each year, Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.  This service is not offered during denning season (May to the end of July) ensuring that mothers are not inhumanely separated from their young.

Pest Management will be offered to residents that find a Skunk Den site located on their personal property.  Once Parks, Recreation and Culture is notified, and the request is approved, they would contact a City hired Contractor to set a trap at the residential location.  We do not approve the set up of traps on public property; and any requests for trapping on  neighbouring properties must come from the property owner.   If there is not a den site found on the property, the City will not provide skunk trapping services.

Once approval is received from Parks, Recreation and Culture, the homeowner will be entitled to the Program which includes the initial set-up of a skunk trap, removal of said trap, and skunk disposal.  Anything over and above the one call-out charge will be at the cost to the homeowner.

Repeat trapping requests from addresses will require a new separate work order approved by Parks, Recreation and Culture through the Program for each additional call out.

The City does not cover skunk removal or trapping done with private traps, and will not cover any trapping costs that weren’t pre-approved by the Program.

Property owners may use a Pest Management company for trapping services outside of the Program availability or for means not covered by the Program; however, all associated costs will be at the property owners expense.

If you would like more information on the Program, or to apply for trapping services, you can contact Parks, Recreation and Culture at 306-953-4800.
