Building and Demolition Permits

Depending on the project you are planning on doing, you may require a building permit or demolition permit.

Applying

building permit application is required for construction that is new, an addition or renovation to a building or structure, or change of use to a building.

demolition permit application is required for the moving or removal of a building or structure.

You must have a building permit or demolition permit before any work is started. If you are not the owner of the property, you will need to complete the Owner's Authorization Form. The contractor on the application must have a valid City of Prince Albert business license in order for the building permit or demolition permit to be issued.

Your application can be submitted in person at the Community Development Department, 3rd Floor, City Hall, or by email at solutions@citypa.com. Your application may take up to 20 days to process depending on the type of work (new construction, renovation, etc.). This process may take longer if all required information has not been provided with the application.

Demolition permit

The minimum fee is $100 for the first $50,000 of value and $1/$1,000 of value after.

Inspections

Your building or demolition permit will list the inspections required. You or your agent or contractor is responsible for booking inspections.

Other requirements

You may need to complete other applications as part of the building or demolition permit application process such as a Grade CertificateSewer and Water ApplicationCrossing Application or Moving Permit.
