Upper Plains Cultural + Ceremonial Grounds

"In the Spirit of Friendship & Reconciliation, we acknowledge our ancestors who walked before us in a good way. That we will continue to follow the Sweetgrass Road, Traditions, Culture, and Language that were passed down to help bring our spirit back to youth, families, and community for our future generations.” – Shane Bird, PAIMFC

Wakpa Sa Cistinna (Little Red River) Upper Plains Cultural + Ceremonial Grounds Master Plan

We recognize that Prince Albert and the Little Red River Park (LRRP) are part of Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Dene, Dakota, Saulteaux and Ojibwe peoples, and the homeland of the Métis peoples. We acknowledge, honour, respect, and thank the peoples and traditions that have come before us and allowed us and our relations to live and work on their lands.

We acknowledge the help and participation of all of who contributed to this plan. We recognize Shane Bird's vision and leadership, the contributions of the Prince Albert Indian and Métis Friendship Centre, and the representatives of the City of Prince Albert.

Mission: To create culturally relevant ceremonial grounds to address the TRCs' 94 calls to action within the Kistapinânihk (City of Prince Albert) community on the Upper Plains of present-day Little Red River Park.
