Planning and Development

All new development or redevelopment of land must meet the requirements of our Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw, and other bylaws, plans and legislation. To view the Zoning Bylaws, visit the Bylaws page and select "Zoning" under category.

Based on the type of development you are proposing to do, you may need to meet the requirements in our Master Specifications, Standard Detail Drawings and Design Standards.  Visit the City Design and Construction Standards page for a full list or subsections of these documents.

Depending on the area of the city where the development is proposed, you may need to meet the requirements in our land use planning studies.

You may require one or more of the following applications for your project:

• Subdivision of land
• Rezoning
• Development permit
• Building permit
