The City of Prince Albert would like to thank the volunteers, waste haulers, and sanitation workers for their support and contribution to the success of this year's community clean-up and pitch-in week.
The Community clean-up and Pitch-in week was hosted this year from May 2nd to May 7th with four waste drop-off locations in each corner of the city. "Councillor Charlene Miller started the clean-up initiative in Ward 1 in 2010," said Mayor Greg Dionne. "Her drive to provide this opportunity for a cleaner community has gained momentum over the years making it the city-wide operation it is today."
"This year's Community Clean-up was a great success with lots of positive feedback from residents," said Councillor Miller. "It's important to give residents the opportunity to easily dispose their household waste and I'm happy to have other Councillors come on board to make this a City-wide effort."
During the clean-up and pitch-in week event, residents could bring their household garbage, electronics, metal, appliances, grass, leaves, and recyclables free of charge to four locations throughout the City.
The Sanitation department reports that 68 loads weighing 71 tonnes were brought to the Landfill from Pitch-In week which is approximately 40% more waste was collected than last year.
