Mayor Greg Dionne has proclaimed April 7th as Green Shirt Day in the City of Prince Albert in honour of Logan Boulet, a 21 year old Humboldt Broncos player who lost his life in a tragic bus accident two years ago. Logan’s parents, Toby and Bernadine, honoured his wish to be an organ donor on April 7, 2018, and his donation saved the lives of six Canadians.
City staff has been invited to once again participate in this important day by wearing a green shirt to work. City Council has also been invited to wear green at the upcoming April 6th City Council meeting.
“We are in the midst of unprecedented challenges with COVID-19 but I wanted to take a moment to encourage everyone to consider signing up as an organ donor if they haven’t already,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “The fact remains that people are still waiting for life-saving organ transplants.”
Green Shirt Day honours the legacy of Logan’s story and has also inspired more than 100,000 Canadians to become registered organ donors, a movement now referred to as the Logan Boulet Effect. The ultimate goal of Green Shirt Day is for Canadians to share their organ donation wishes with their families.
