The City of Prince Albert would like to advise residents that masks cannot be flushed down a toilet. The City’s Water and Sewer department is reporting masks in the sewer lines which are creating blockages. This can be damaging to the sewer lines and result in costly repairs for homeowners.
All residents are reminded that only human waste and toilet paper can be flushed down your toilet. Flushing anything else down your toilet or draining them through a sink is illegal and goes against the City’s Bylaw No. 48 of 2015.
Items like diapers, sanitary napkins, kitchen grease, combs, hair, plastic materials, oil, sump pump water or newspaper rags and cloths can all cause a blocked line. Even wipes, Kleenex and paper towel can clog your sewer lines.
Masks cannot be recycled and should only be disposed of in household garbage bins.
