The City of Prince Albert is expanding the landfill pass program to add one additional pass for compost. Utility customers that pay a sanitation fee can now receive one free 150 kg load of compost per year as part of the program. To access your free pass, you must show your water bill (paper or electronic) to landfill attendants. Additional compost can be purchased for $1 per 10 kg.
“After years of curbside yard waste pick-up, we have a mountain of compost that we would like to make available to residents and customers,” said Nisar Ghani, Sanitation Manager.
Compost can be picked up at the landfill and will not be delivered. Please note the following guidelines:
- ONLY residents that pay a sanitation fee can receive free compost.
- You MUST provide a current Prince Albert sanitation/water bill at the landfill as proof of residency.
- If you pay a sanitation fee, the first 150 kg is Free. Anything over 150 kg is $1 per 10 kg.
- If you DO NOT pay a sanitation fee, you can purchase compost for $1 per 10 kg.
- ALL vehicles will be weighed upon entering and leaving the landfill.
- Compost must be picked up at the landfill.
- This will be a self-service in the presence of the landfill staff.
- Compost will be available at the Landfill between June 8th and September 8th only.
The landfill pass program provides four free access to the landfill for water utility customers that pay a sanitation fee on their bills. Please review your bill to confirm if you qualify.
