To ensure residents have an opportunity to safely dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste the City of Prince Albert will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Day on Saturday September 12, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Old City Yards (6th Avenue East/10th Street).
Household hazardous waste includes many items that people are storing in their basements, garages, kitchens or bathrooms and can include anything from drain cleaner to florescent tubes. Hazardous items are often toxic or flammable which means extra care should be taken when disposing of them.
The public is encouraged to take advantage of the hazardous waste collection day by coming out and safely disposing of these unwanted or unusable items.
Items to be accepted (but not limited to):
- Adhesives, Aerosols, Automotive, Batteries, Cleaners, Corrosives
- Fuels, Mercury, Oxidizers, Poisons, Pharmaceuticals, Solvents
Reminder: Whenever possible, please keep the labels on the materials you are bringing in. This helps to identify the substances and avoids the need for testing substances so they are properly identified and disposed of.
Items not accepted:
- Electronics waste – SWEEP (Sask. Waste Electronic Equipment Program) - SARCAN
- Used oil, oil filters & containers, tires and Propane Tanks – take to Prince Albert Landfill
Other hazardous waste products excluded:
- Biological, Infectious, Radioactive, Explosive, Ammunition, Industrial Waste.
