After March "went out like a lion", everyone is looking forward to that warm spring weather ahead! A number of sports groups are making plans for their 2021 seasons, with activity continues at the PA Arts Centre, Alfred Jenkins Field House, Margo Fournier Centre, EA Rawlinson Centre for the Ars and other facilities.

Prince Albert City Council has approved key design elements for the New Aquatics and Arenas Recreation Centre to be built in the South East corner of the city!
It will be an incredible facility including: an 8 lane X 25 metre competitive pool, combined leisure-splash and wave pool, lazy river, 2 water slides and whirlpool; as well as 2 NHL sized ice surfaces with spectator seating, expansive player dressing rooms and referees rooms.
There is a webpage created with all the information available that will be updated with pictures and info throughout the process!

Registrations
All sports organizations are carefully watching the Saskatchewan Health Authorities guidelines for COVID-19 and are hopeful to have some sort of the season in 2021. Below are some associations spring registration, including updated fees and registration at Cooke Municipal Golf Course.
The spring registration deadline for PAYSA has been extended to April 5. Celtics teams will begin April 6.
The Prince Albert Pikes Artistic Swim Club has information about how they plan to grow their club in 2021.
Prince Albert River Riders Minor Football is BACK! Five programs are planned for May & June for boys & girls from grade 1 to 12. Registration fees range from $30 to $75.
All necessary equipment is provided either by PA Minor Football or through our high schools. Online registration is available NOW.
The 2021 rates have been approved for the Cooke Municipal Golf Course.
Register now for the season.
This summer, Cooke will host the 100th edition of the Northern Tournament with men's, ladies and team divisions.
The Spring 2021 Program Guide is out and has so many great arts and culture programs at the Arts Centre! This month includes Anime and Pottery for youth, Yoga, several pottery classes, Intro to Photography, Free Vegetarian Chili Virtual Cooking Class, Sew Your Own Mask and more! You can chose in person, take & make, or virtual programs. We are taking all safety precautions (smaller class sizes, mandatory masks, social distancing, disinfecting, and more) and welcome you in person or from your home! Thank you to all of our Instructors this season!

Mary McLeod – A Walk Through the Forest
Artist Talk - Mann Art Gallery Facebook Page – April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
The Mann Art Gallery, the John V. Hicks Gallery (Prince Albert Arts Centre), and the Prince Albert Council for the Arts are proud to present local artist Mary McLeod’s A Walk Through the Forest. McLeod grew up on Vancouver Island in B.C., and it is there her fascination with the beauty of the trees began to grow. This exhibition of paintings spans form Colliere Dam Falls, British Columbia to the northern Boreal Forest of Saskatchewan and St. John, New Brunswick. In each piece, McLeod plays with light, shadow and colour, unafraid to verge into abstraction. Mary works at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

There are extra times for Easter Weekend at the Frank J. Dunn Pool!
Both Good Friday and Easter Monday there will be public swimming at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. You need to pre-register.
There is also aquasize and lane swimming at the Dunn.
The Margo Fournier Centre offers a wide variety of programs.
One of the more popular programs for older people who want to stay active is the Easy Adult Fitness class with Ruth Griffiths. You need to pre-register.
Please note the AJFH is OPEN Good Friday and Easter Monday from Noon to 6:00 p.m.
There are many programs starting soon at the Field House.
As well April has a full Drop-In schedule.
Easter Week at the Historical Museum
The Historical Museum is offering free programming and museum admission each afternoon of Easter week from April 6 to April 9. Please book your visit in advance by emailing museumeducator@historypa.com or calling the museum at 306-764-2992.
The programs are as follows:
- Tuesday April 6 (1-4): Museum Scavenger Hunt
- Wednesday April 7 (1-4): Exploring Historic Beading Patterns with Leah Dorion
- Thursday April 8 (1-4): “What is it?” Artifact Handling
- Friday April 9 (1-4): Riverbank Walking Tours, weather permitting – will depart from the museum at 1 PM, 2 PM, & 3PM
While these are free to attend we are reminding folks that the Historical Society does take donations to help us keep running & offering free programs like this!
The Historical Museum is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the other museums, tours can be booked by appointment.
Freddie & Sheila Pelletier
Join Freddie and Sheila Pelletier at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts April 1st for a fun and humorous acoustic evening of songs from the past with outstanding guitar picking and vocals.
Freddie, on lead acoustic and electric guitar and vocals, emulates the work of guitar greats like Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and others. Sheila, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, sings a mix of classic country, folk, 60's/70's rock and yodels. They also do a splash of original material, humorous songs and Freddie clogs while playing the guitar.

Kayleigh Skomorowski is a singer-songwriter, wind band director and music educator based in Prince Albert. She began her musical education playing piano and singing in music ministry at her family parish. She continued to develop a passion for music throughout high school. Kayleigh currently shares her love of music with the students of École St Mary High School where she teaches band, choir, jazz band and general music. She continues to share her gifts with her parish through ministry with her husband and two sons.
Kayleigh's newest album, “Stay Wild,” is slated for release on the day of this performance. “Stay Wild” is an earnest reflection on parenthood and releasing one’s own youth, while clinging to the experiences of our past which make us.

ARCANA KINGS (formerly the Johnny McCuaig Band) return with their undeniable rockin’ release “Lions As Ravens” featuring the singles “HERE WE GO”, “RUN RUNAWAY”,and “MOTHER”. This band is a musical sensation that continues to deliver impressive rock songs like their powerful CFL sports anthem “Here We Go”.
Arcana Kings, meaning secrets or mysteries, are made up of Johnny McCuaig on lead vocals, bagpipes and rhythm guitar, lead guitarist James Picton, rhythm guitarist and vocals Allan Morrison, on bass Kevin Kyle and drummer Graham Templeman.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders use the bands single, Here We Go, as they take to the field at the start of every home game.

The John M. Cuelenaere branch of the Prince Albert Public Library is open, while the Bernice Sayese Centre and Saskatchewan Polytechnic branch locations will reopen at a later date.

10th Annual High School Juried Art Show-April 9 to May 29

For the past nine years, the Mann Art Gallery has presented art by local high school students in our Project and Education Studio Galleries. This year, during the typical High School Juried Art Show period (April-May), we are determined to showcase and celebrate the artistic achievements and creative vision of talented students in a new, hybrid format—both an in-person and virtual exhibition! Students have the option of only submitting a digital image of a work, or the physical work itself; all artworks will be viewed online.

Prince Albert has many talented artists and contributors to the arts worthy of nomination into the Arts Hall of Fame. Nomination categories include Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Literature, Creative Arts and Builder of the Arts. Deadline for nominations is May 15, 2021. Creative Kids is a charitable program that funds Saskatchewan children who want to take music or dance lessons, learn to paint or act, speak a family language, explore different cultures, find out about their heritage, study dinosaur bones, or join a number of other creative pursuits in their community. Creative Kids funds arts, heritage, multicultural and Aboriginal activities for families facing financial barriers.
