Prince Albert, Sask. –
All non-essential City Services were closed to the public last week amid concerns over the spread of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. At this time, the following updates can be provided regarding City service levels.
Parking Tickets
The City has relaxed parking regulations and will not be issuing tickets for expired meters in the downtown or timed limitations in residential areas. Residents are reminded that parking restrictions for safety and access such as parking in front of a hydrant, in a Fire Lane, a Bus Stop, No Parking Zones or in a Disability Stall without the placard remain in effect.
Impound lot
At this time the City is not towing vehicles for unpaid parking violations however, the City Administers the impound lot on behalf of the SGI Impoundment Program and the Prince Albert Police Service. If your vehicle has been towed and you need to make arrangements to pick it up or collect belongings from your vehicle you can make an appointment by calling (306) 953-4330.
Water Bills
Water shut offs for water accounts in arrears are temporarily suspended. The City will continue to tag properties in arrears to notify them they are past due. We encourage anyone in arrears to discuss payment plan options with the Water Department by calling (306) 953-4340.
Water Meter Replacements
The Water meter installation program continues to replace old water meters. Homes that still require a new meter need to immediately book an installation time by calling 1-855-455-3693. Installers are following health protocols to ensure safety while entering people’s homes. If any occupant has concerns over social distancing please notify the call centre so that an appointment can be booked for a later date. Doing so will avoid any disconnection of services.
Transit
The transit system continues to operate. High touch surfaces are being cleaned after each round and social distancing recommendations are being followed (two meters between people). Drivers have the authority to refuse riders if the bus is too full. All valid March 2020 bus passes will be honoured through April 30, 2020. Riders can present their March pass throughout April.
