Mayor Greg Dionne is reminding all visitors to the City’s playgrounds, parks and outdoor facilities to respect the Covid-19 restrictions in place. Warmer weather in recent days has resulted in crowds gathering above the 10 person limit.
“We all need to be part of the solution,” said Mayor Dionne. “There are rules in place to protect everyone from the spread. If you arrive at a park and there are more than 10 people, keep your distance or find another place to go.”
Currently, public and private outdoor gatherings are permitted up to 10 persons. People in attendance must ensure that physical distancing of at least two metres between households is maintained.
“I understand that the vaccine is on its way, but the majority of us are not protected yet,” said Dionne. “The variant is more aggressive and more contagious. We can’t let our guard down now. We need to protect ourselves, our families and our communities and respect the rules that are in place.”
Signage that was removed for the winter season will be going up soon and Police members will be taking action as needed when they are called to respond. If necessary, the City will consider the closure of outdoor parks and spaces.
