The City of Prince Albert Public Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that the utility and roadwork on 12th Street West from 1st to 2nd Avenue will begin this week. The work includes the installation of a new water and storm sewer main and repaving of the roadway. The extensive underground and road Construction on 12th Street West will result in traffic disruptions to EARC and north bound bridge access.
In the Fall of 2022 after heavy rainfall a watermain break occurred causing the storm sewer to collapse. A temporary plug was installed for the storm sewer. Crews will proceed now to install a new storm sewer main to replace the collapsed main and 12 Street will also see the over 100 year old cast iron watermain’s replacement and size increased.
The intersection on 1st Ave W and 12 Street W will also be closed during the weeks to create a safe work zone. The overflow parking of the E A Rawlinson Theatre at the Gateway mall will be available and the crossing for pedestrians will be at the traffic light on 12 Street and 2nd Ave W.
The work starts this week and will take approximately 6 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
