If you are an organization and you are looking to put up a permanent sign you must first obtain a permit from the City of Prince Albert. You can download a Permanent Sign Permit application form from the
Applications Page.
Before you submit your application, please take note of the following regulations (as outlined in the sign regulations in the
Zoning Bylaw):
- The maximum size restrictions is:
- Standard billboards: 3.05 metres (10 ft) (height) x 6.1 metres (20 ft) (length)
- Vertical boards: 4.88 metres (16ft) (height) x 3.66 metres (12 ft) (length);
- Minimum setbacks:
- Rear yard: 7.5 metres (24 ft) front yard, 7.5 metres rear yard
- Side yard: 1.5 metres (5 ft)
- The overall height of the billboard including the pole shall be no more than 10 metres (32 ft) and a minimum of 5 metres (16 ft) with a minimum 3 metres (10 ft) radius clearance from the edge of the sign.
- Built with a steel frame and held with one single steel post maximum.
- The billboard shall be 90 metres (295 ft) apart from any other billboards except along highways where billboards shall be 250 metres (820 ft) apart from any other billboards.
- Submit a Engineered Foundation Design
- Billboards are permitted in most of the M1 – Heavy Industrial and M3 – Light Industrial zones. Specific permitted areas for billboards can be viewed on this map.
Enforcement:
Any sign found in violation of the zoning bylaw may be found guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to:
- In the case of an individual:
- a fine of not more than $2,000
- in the case of a continuing offence, to an additional fine of not more than $500.00 for each day during which the offence continues;
- In the case of a corporation:
- a fine of not more than $5,000
- in the case of a continuing offence, to an additional fine of not more than$1,000 for each day during which the offence continues.
