Jim Scarrow was elected the 42nd Mayor of the City of Prince Albert on October 25, 2006. Jim and his wife, Helen, have three children; Alison, Greg and Jeff.
Jim is the former Vice-President of Rawlco Radio and has served the community in various capacities including his current roles as the Chair of the Prince Albert Board of Police Commissioners, and as Ex-officio to all City boards, committees and commissions.
Jim has also served as a Board Member on the Premier’s Task Force on Forestry Development, and has also been involved in organizing many important community-building initiatives, including:
- National President Association of Kinsmen Clubs
- Co-Chairman, Saskatchewan Winter Games
- Co-Chairman City of Prince Albert 75th and 100th Anniversary Celebrations
- Founding Member of Kinsman Foundation
- Provincial Kinsmen Telemiracle for 7 years
- Fundraising Chair – E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts
- Fund Raising Chairman for the New Home for Prince Albert Children’s Haven
Jim is widely recognized for his community involvement. Over the past few years, Jim has been formally honored for his contributions, including:
- Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal
- Queen’s Silver Anniversary Medal
- Canada 125 Medal for Community Service Award
- One of One Hundred People Who Made a Difference in the Past 100 Years award from the Kiwanis Club of Prince Albert
- Member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame 2003
- Being named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Prince Albert
- 2005 Commemorative Centennial Medal of Saskatchewan recipient
- Saskatchewan Order of Merit
- University of Regina President's Community Award
