Creative Kids

Lakeland District for Sport Culture and Recreation is pleased to announce that the new SaskCulture program, Creative Kids, now has a local district committee to service our community members.  Applications for this new program are available from our office.

Creative Kids is a charitable program that provides financial assistance to children and youth 19 years of age and under who would like to participate in art, culture or creative experiences.  The program helps cover the costs associated with participation which may include registration fees, equipment or supplies.  Funded through a partnership with Give Kids a Chance Charity and SaskCulture, Creative Kids is modeled after KidSport which provides financial assistance for children and youth wishing to participate in sport activities.

Activities eligible for Creative Kids funding are wide-ranging and may include art lessons, dance classes, language lessons, music instruction, cultural camp, heritage activities, multicultural dance and all other activities that are associated with art, culture or creativity.  Creative Kids relies on donations, and 100% of all funds raised for Creative Kids will go towards supporting program participants.

(Canadian Tire) JumpStart(Canadian Tire) JumpStart

Canadian Tire JumpStart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation such as hockey, soccer and swimming. Canadian Tire JumpStart delivers support to children through a Canada-wide network of local chapters. These chapters are comprised of community partners such as local youth organizations who are in a position to identify children in financial need. Together, these community partners use a confidential process to select and refer children who meet the criteria and who could benefit from the program. This model enables Canadian Tire JumpStart to maintain integrity in the process and to ensure that funding is delivered right to children who fit with our criteria. Parents do not apply directly to the program to obtain funding for their children.

For more information about this program, please visit the Canadian Tire JumpStart website www.canadiantire.ca/jumpstart or call the Urban Youth Sports Coordinator at 953-1623, extension 3.
