Water and Sewer Services

The City of Prince Albert uses the North Saskatchewan River as its only raw water source. The City, with a population of 40,000 citizens, is located upstream of the river forks where the South Saskatchewan River joins the North Saskatchewan River. The Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is located at the southwest corner of 6th Avenue West and River Street West. The WTP is approximately three miles upstream of the City of Prince Albert J. W. Oliver Pollution Control Centre wastewater treatment plant. The WTP can treat up to 10 million gallons per day.

Approximately 600 rural area farms are supplied with treated water from the city's distribution system. The Prince Albert Rural Water Authority administers the rural water supply, with an equivalent population of approximately 1,500 people.

NOTE:  Custom Work Order Projects
Any underground sewer or water construction that is required to be performed by Public Works, under Custom Work Order, needs to be requested prior to the first Monday in July in order to ensure that the project is placed on the current year's Construction Schedule.
