Garbage and Recycling

Garbage

The City of Prince Albert’s sanitary landfill, located just north of the city limits (see map) is one of the most modern and environmentally sound landfills in all of Canada. Waste is transported to the disposal cell which has an impermeable liner that prevents any contaminated water from entering the groundwater system.

The issue of garbage collection is governed by the Waste Collection and Disposal Bylaw No. 15 of 2003. You can find this bylaw and any related amendments on the Bylaws page.

The City of Prince Albert Public Works Department would like to remind residents that all loads must be secured when hauling waste to the landfill. Failure to comply will result in an additional charge.

Operating Hours

Monday - Saturday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm

Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Be advised the city will not accept the following wastes:

  • Household Hazardous Wastes
  • Anti-freeze
  • Paint and Spray Paint Cans
  • Fuels
