Parades and Block Parties

A parade is any street closure that involves a group of pedestrians marching or walking along a public highway and numbering 25 or more or any group of vehicles numbering 10 or more and proceeding on a public highway under common leadership except for funeral processions and military parades.

A block party is a social gathering whereby the residents of a particular neighbourhood desire to close a street to vehicular traffic.

Parades and block parties are fun and enjoyable events that require the use of City streets.  Permits are required to ensure that this is done in a safe and efficient manner.  The policies can be found on the Policies page.  The application forms and other pertinent information are included below.

Block Parties

This flowchart will explain the steps necessary in obtaining a block party permit. Please review and complete the rules and application form .  If the City denies your request for a permit, you may question the our decision by submitting a completed appeal form for further review.
