Heritage resources make Prince Albert what it is. They are the physical expression of our historical, cultural, aesthetic and social values. They are the "things" that give our city its particular sense of time and place. Heritage conservation is about the management of these elements for present and future generations. It is not just about "saving" old buildings. Heritage conservation accepts change as a normal process.
The City of Prince Albert, through its Prince Albert Municipal Heritage Award Selection Subcommittee, recognizes heritage work in Prince Albert through the presentation of an award.
This award recognizes excellence in project or buildings that provide outstanding heritage value to the City of Prince Albert. An award plaque is presented annually to the chosen recipient on the evening of the Samuel McLeod Business Awards. The recipient will be notified prior to the event to confirm that arrangements are made to attend the Awards.

The following criteria are considered in selecting a recipient for the award:
- Restoration - Exterior
- Adaptive Re-Use
- New Design - Sensitive Infill
- New Design - Sensitive Addition
- Preservation - Exterior
Those wishing to nominate a project may request the guidelines and nomination form by contacting the Economic Development and Planning Department at 953-4370 or by submitting a completed Heritage Guidelines and Registration Form.
