All businesses, including home-based businesses, operating in the City of Prince Albert must have a valid business license which has been approved by the Department of Economic Development and Planning before business can commence.
Business Licenses are required to provide a level of regulation for businesses within the City. They are used as a tool for the City to ensure compliance with land-use and building regulations, to gather land-use information and to facilitate planning decisions.

Following are the business licenses that are available:

Commercial License Application (pdf)
Required for any business located in a Commercial or Industrial Zone. This is the most common form for potential new businesses. |

Home Occupation License Application (pdf)
This form is for potential Home-Based Businesses only. Possible applicants include esthetic companies, consulting-type businesses, etc. The difference between this form and the commercial Based Business License application is that as a home-based business there are a number of regulations thatmust be adhered to in addition to that of a commercial business. The regulations are outlined on the form. |

Transient License Application (pdf)
This application is for all other businesses that do not fit into the home-based business or commercial business descriptions. This includes fruit sellers,direct sellers, etc. |

A prerequisite for a commercial business license.
INCENTIVES
The City offers incentives for businesses that operate in the Municipal Enterprise Zone within the downtown district.

Business names must be registreed with Saskatchewan Justice and Corporations branch. Note that if you are operating under your personal name, you will not need to register your businsess name. |

This business numbering system through Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) simplifies and streamlines the way businesses deal with the federal government.
