Please note that this service is provided as a courtesy only. Building plans are filed with the Building Department as per federal and provincial regulations, and the Department is under no obligation to release the said plans.
Pre-authorized companies may be able to borrow building plans for a period of 30 days. Only one set of plans may be borrowed at one time and until they are returned, no further plans will be released. Should the plans not be returned within 90 days, the borrower’s deposit will be forfeited and no further plans will be released to said borrower.
If you wish to have a copy made of a set of plans for personal use you may request that a pre-authorized company arrange for pick-up and creation of copies. Alternately, if we have the ability to create a copy of a set of plans or specified sheets from a set, we will do so. (Not all plans can be copied due to the type of material on which they were printed as well as the age of the document.) Please note that five days notice is required to process your request.
For rates, see Building Permit (fee for borrowing) on the Fee Schedule page.
If you require additional information, please contact the Chief Building Official at 953-4370.
