Introduction:

The City of Prince Albert is the largest member of the corporation, which owns a Material Recovery Facility at 460 - 40th Street East. The Membership is made up of area municipalities.  Each member appoints a representative, and the board is elected from these appointees.

The business is focused on recycling cardboard and paper in line with development of a regional waste management system and diversion of waste from the Prince Albert landfill and the landfills operated by other member municipalities.

Expansion into recycling other waste streams is seen as a future role for the corporation, but hinges on development of supportive senior government policies.

Introduction:

The City participates in the Committee to establish a vehicle for the development and evolution of a transportation plan for the north central region by bringing together elected municipal representatives, producers, and business stake holders, thereby gaining a greater knowledge of regional transportation issues and becoming involved in transportation decision making into the 21st Century.

Introduction:

The Committee's purpose is to support and direct the implementation of the Source Water Proctection Plan for our watershed.  The Mission Statement is to create and implement a plan to develop and protection source waters in the watershed so that the resource can sustain future social, economic, environmental and cultural needs.

Introduction:

To facilitate the distribution of a portion of net gaming proceeds derived from the Northern Lights Casino located on the Peter Ballantyne Reserve No. 220. These monies shall be made available and provided to First Nation charities and Non-First Nation organizations and Buckland and charities located within The City and surrounding area.  The corporation distributes funds following charitable purposes:  community infrastructure, development and maintenance, cultural development, economic development, educational development, health initiatives, justice initiatives, programs for seniors and youth, recreational facilities, operation and development, social development and other charitable purpose.

Introduction:

The City participates in the Board to help enhance regional economic development in Prince Albert and surrounding area.  To help employment by providing advice and counseling to new and expanding small businesses.  Also, to provide loans to enterprises that cannot access conventional funding.

Introduction:

Administration of Pine Industries, Work Preparation Centre, Budget Counselling, Steps to Employment, Prince Albert Supported Employment, Youth Employment Support Program, Transition Services, and Special Needs and Seniors Transportation.

To promote the interests of its affiliates and generally to advance the economic and social welfare of workers.

To develop, promote, administer and co-ordinate Arts policies, program, facilities and issues of the Arts in the City of Prince Albert. To implement and provide advice to City Council pursuant to the City of Prince Albert Civic Arts Policy.

The Foundation's mandate is to receive donations from private citizens and organizations to be invested and ultimately dispersed by way of grants to community based groups involved in the area of social services, culture, arts, education, etc.

To assist in the planning issues pertaining to the District, which include The City of Prince Albert, the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert and the Rural Municipality of Buckland.

Operation of the Exhibition Association, Grounds and annual Exhibition.

The Club carries and supports certain activities conducive to curling, golf and other social activities of interest on property owned by the Club and known as the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club facility.  The City signed a Lease Renewal and Amending Agreement with the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club Inc. on December 21, 1999, which stipulates that one representative of the Board of Directors be appointed by the City and the Professional Managing Superintendent be appointed as an advisor to the Board.

Introduction:

To the promotion, operation, management and maintenance of the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in the City of Prince Albert to recognize and honour the achievements of Prince Albert and district athletes, builders, teams and meritorious achievements in the world of sports and to preserve that which is significant to sport in Prince Albert and district and in this regard may solicit donations, grants, accepts gifts and bequests, and may do all other things incidental thereto as may be necessary, except as limited or restricted herein.

Introduction:

To conduct a transportation planning study for the Prince Albert Area to evaluate the future transportation corridors and infrastructure necessary to allow for continued growth and prosperity of the City.

Assessment practices and procedures, as they apply to Urban Municipalities with greater than 30,000 population including manuals, reassessments, schedules, modeling, etc.  The legislative amendments required to implement a successful revaluation.  Appropriate communications strategies for implementing reassessment in Urban Municipalities with greater than 30,000 population.  Any other matters referred to the Committee by the SAMA Board.

Introduction:

Provide advice to the Board on review of policies and practices respecting assessment, make recommendations to the Board relating to changes in assessment policy and practice, consider any matter relating to changes in assessment policy and practices, including proposals for orders, before those matters are approved by the Board.

As the representative of the city participates in all board/committee meetings and on occasion represents SUMA at the request of the President and sits on task forces and special committees and reports periodically to his/her council on the business and work of SUMA.

The Committee shall be generally representative of the community and shall include persons capable of representing the interests of the various 'publics' that make up the community.

Administer technical and professional support services to participating local library boards enabling local libraries to provide equitable access to materials and programs.

This committee is made up of three-members represented by three levels of government that fund the social housing units managed by a housing authority.  The Committee is expected to seek out and nominate volunteers who are interedted in serving their community and are sympathetic to the principles of social housing.

To update all stakeholders as to the activites and status of operations and to assist with planning for the project in relation to living quarters, health care facilities, educational facilities, both grade school and technical, demographics, etc.  The Committee will be a focal group for Shore Gold to contact.

To operate as Prince Albert's destination management organization, maximizing the economic benefit to Prince Albert through tourism.

Introduction:

A Committee to enhance community-university replationships.  Regional Advisory Council members provide advice and guidane on teaching and learning, as well as ideas for generating new policies and structures affecting the University's outreach and engarement initiatives.
