Prince Albert and area residents had the opportunity to experience the Olympic spirit first hand on January 11 and 12 when the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay made a stop in Prince Albert on its journey across Canada to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Games.

The Prince Albert Olympic Torch Relay Community Task Force would like to thank the entire community for helping to make the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay Celebration in Prince Albert a huge success.

Januay 11, 2010, by all accounts, will be remembered as a day of tremendous community pride for Prince Albert. The planning process that began in November of 2008 came to fruition on January 11, 2010 with more than 8,000 Prince Albert and area residents lining the streets and filling the downtown. Everyone was gathered for their once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Olympic Flame. It was an evening full of inspiration, emotion and Canadian pride that the citizens of Prince Albert and surrounding area will remember for years to come!

The community support received was truly incredible. The planning committee was able to host a number of events and activities leading up to the relay, including the Community Skate, Prince Albert Raiders games, the Family Fire Festival and the SIAST send-off breakfast. Thanks to a group of dedicated committee members, City staff, Police and Fire Services, and countless volunteers, performers, individuals and businesses, the celebration was amazing.

The planning committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations. We will always cherish the feeling of warmth we have as we remember the amazing events...with glowing hearts.
